Behind the Lens
Hello! My name is Kim, and I photograph newborn babies, growing families, and senior graduates in Austin, Texas.
My photography style is natural, relaxed, and full of connection. I know being in front of the camera can feel a little awkward at first, so I keep sessions lighthearted and easy. I’ll gently guide you along the way so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.
A few things you might like to know about me:
• I love a good psychological thriller, book or movie.
• I firmly believe guacamole should be free.
• I have been known to play John Mayer on repeat.
I’m also completely self taught. I picked up a camera about 15 years ago as a hobby, but after my daughter was born in 2015, I fell in love with photographing newborns and families.
The best part of this work is encouraging and supporting parents in the beautiful, messy, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it season of parenthood. My goal is to document the love and connection within your family, and preserve the moments you never want to forget.
Thank you for being here, for looking through my work, and for trusting me to photograph the people you love most.

What does Yellowbird mean?
Yellowbird is a nickname my husband gave me when we first started dating. It’s from a lyric in a song called Poison Oak.
“I never thought this life was possible. You’re the yellowbird that I’ve been waiting for.”
- Bright Eyes
It was the sweetest thing anyone had ever called me. So it stuck. I married the best father and podcaster of all time. Together we have one sweet daughter and a crazy old mini-schnauzer that rules our roost, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Diversity & Inclusion
At Yellowbird Photography, we believe in equality for all. We support and advocate the concept of equal opportunity and inclusion regardless of your race, color, age, sex, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
The Experience
One
BEFORE the session.
We will communicate by email to get to know each other and go over your photography needs. If I am available and you want to move forward, we will book the session and begin the planning process. I will guide you along every step of the way and send you reminders about the important stuff.
Two
DURING the session.
Unless you’re a professional model, you probably aren’t the most experienced when it comes to getting your picture taken. That’s where I come in. I have the experience needed to invoke those genuine smiles that turn an okay photo into something stunning. All you have to do is show up! During the session I will gently guide you and tell you what looks best.
Three
AFTER the session.
I typically send a sneak peek within 48 hours of the session and the final gallery a few weeks later. Each final image is carefully edited by a professional and delivered to you in a high resolution JPG format, free of any watermarks so you can share them with the ones you love.
